The Alzheimer Society is the leading not-for-profit health organization working nationwide to improve the quality of life for Canadians affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Volunteers are needed for a range of positions, including:
Memory Cafe Volunteer Committee Member: Volunteers are needed to help plan and implement the Memory Café, which consists of regular gatherings that provide a comfortable, inclusive atmosphere to support the educational, emotional, and socialization needs of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The gatherings also provide a natural support network among family and friends.
Caregiving Support Network Facilitator: Kind and caring volunteers are needed to facilitate local monthly Caregiver support meetings. Facilitators lead the monthly support group meetings, act as a point of contact for the Alzheimer Society in the local area, serve as a resource for caregivers, provide support for caregivers, and prepare coffee/beverages for support meetings. Training is provided by the Alzheimer Society.
General Office Assistant: A very detail oriented volunteer is needed to help with administrative tasks in the local Regional Resource Centre. Tasks include answering telephones, entering donations into the data management system, assisting the regional coordinator with promotion of programs and events, and assisting with large client and donor mail out campaigns.
