Cross-Country Skiing and Sledding

A big local treat for the winter, Lindsay Valley Lodge and Trails offer groomed classic and skate cross-country ski trails and a sledding hill! The lodge has a fireplace to warm up and snacks to refuel. There are about 35 km of trails, mainly single-track with a skating lane. Trails are rated easy and intermediate with some difficult sections. One trail is lighted for evening skiing, and skis are available for rent at the Base Gym.

Hiking, Snowshoeing, and Biking

Oromocto’s Deer Park and Gateway Welands are beautiful local spots for dog walks, hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and enjoying the Oromocto River. A little further away, Odell Park in Fredericton also provides great trails. Come see how amazing our local area is!

Rock and Ice Climbing

Ascent NB is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization whose primary goal is to acquire and preserve access to local climbing areas. It provides rock and ice climbing clinics for individuals of all ages and abilities. If you’re ready to venture out on your own, visit Ascent NB’s website to learn about local spots!

Downhill Skiing

Our local ski hill has lots to do! Just an hour drive from Oromocto, Crabbe Mountain offers downhill and nordic skiing as well as snowshoeing trails. The lodge has snacks and drinks to keep you going so you can play all day!

The Oromocto River Valley Snowmobile Club maintains and grooms approximately 200 km of trails from South Oromocto Lake Road to Fredericton Junction to Hanwell to New Maryland and Burton, and points in between…whoa, that’s a lot of trails. Visit the Club’s website here to learn about trail conditions and trail permits. The Rusagonis ATV Club is a proud member of the NB ATV Federation. It has 195 km of managed ATV trails, including groomed winter ATV trails. Keep an eye on the Club’s Facebook page here to learn about fun events, and for more information call 261-3960 or email rusagonis@nbatving.com.
